EQ7 is Here!

June10

Yesterday as I was driving with my daughter to her place the email came in on my phone. UPS had just delivered my EQ7! It wasn’t a surprise because I had been using my tracking number to follow it’s progress. I told her she better know how much I love her…to be leaving with her when I could be home playing with my new software.

Electric Quilt 7

So, Electric Quilt….I’ve been using EQ since version two. I’ve loved every single version. I have to admit I still miss the crackling lightning a bit! My upgrade went perfectly, the installer even found EQ6 and filled in my license information automatically.  I then copied all the files from My EQ6 into MyEQ7 folder. Linked the monthly libraries (see information on the free fabric libraries and how to link them on the EQ website).

I peeked around a bit, love the new look and I’m very impressed with the new features. Now I am off to install my second activation on my netbook.  After that I may disappear into Electric Quilt Land for a few days!

EQ7 is coming!

April25

I am a huge fan of EQ, I’ve been using it since EQ2 which ran in DOS. (yeah, I know, dating myself). I’m excited about the new features added to the software, here is a list from the Planet Patchwork site:

Exactly the same friendly interface, plus loads of new user-requested features:

5000 copyright-free blocks
5000 new scanned fabrics, plus grayscale textures
120 new pre-designed quilt layouts
Snap blocks to a Quilt grid
Instant border blocks with greatly expanded Auto Borders
Print multiple photos on fabric
Create original fabric designs from photos, then print on fabric
Mirror and use myriad symmetries on photos
Use dozens of artistic effects, making everyday photos look like watercolors or Impressionist paintings
79 new features in all

You can preorder the software (and software upgrade) now. It begins shipping after June 7, 2010. To be eligible for the upgrade version you must be a currently registered EQ6 user.

I think I’m scheduling my summer vacation for the week after my new software arrives!
